Can a Christian Be Possessed? Print E-mail
Written by eric francke

In a sense, the Christian is already possessed…possessed by the Spirit of God.  If the question is, “Can a Christian be Demon-Possessed?” then according to the Bible, the answer would have to be “no”.

The believers have been “bought with a price” (1 Cor.6:19,20) and therefore is possessed or owned by God. There are some who make the argument that a Christian could be demonized, or what they might call “oppressed”, not “possessed”.

Sat. or Sun.? When is the “Sabbath”? Print E-mail
Written by eric francke

The exact day that should be considered the “Sabbath” or the day set aside for God has been in contention for quite a while.   There is no dispute that the original intention from Genesis is that the "seventh day" (our Saturday) was "blessed" and "sanctified" ( Gen. 2:3).  When Jesus lived, being a Jew, He too observed the Sabbath and other ceremonies.  He did, however, make a very candid statement about the nature and purpose of the Sabbath.  He said in Mark 2:28 that the "Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."   Even though He Himself observed the seventh day Sabbath, it stressed that it was not a practice to be observed for it's own sake, but it was designated as a period of rest for our benefit.

Are Ghosts Real? Print E-mail

There is a lot of interest today in what is called the “paranormal”.  Ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them, play a role in that.  In popular culture, we are led to believe that a dead individual may “haunt” this earth, or may exist in some plane connected to our world if they died with some unfinished business, or had an abrupt or violent death, or some other such contrived reason.

Was Peter the First "Pope"? Print E-mail
Written by eric francke

The word “Pope” of course, is not itself in the Bible.  The broader and more accurate question would be, “Did Jesus make Peter the Head of the Church in his Stead?”

That gets a simple “no”.  Christ declared that only HE was the head of the church (Eph.1:22, 5:23, Col. 1:18).  The apostles realized that it would be usurping Christ's rightful place as head of the church if a person or particular church was designated as the head of the universal or "catholic" church.  Such a person would then “lord” over the church, which Christ warned about.

Can You Lose Your Salvation? Print E-mail
Written by eric francke

Obviously, this is a very divisive issue, and it would require a lot of space to fully develop an argument for either side.  Nevertheless, in order to tackle it, one must first define what we mean by “salvation”.

Some people think that getting “saved” isn’t really any deeper than an individual responding to an altar call, or being baptized and joining a church, or showing some other outward sign of religious behavior.  Some think of it as simply a “feeling”.
