There are a few verses in the Bible that appear to have strong, even “scary” warnings to Christians regarding their behavior. Among them are Hebrews 6:4-6 (“For it is impossible [for those who have fallen away] .. to renew them again unto repentance”.) and Matthew 12:31 (“blasphemy against the Holy Ghost...shall not be forgive”).

Passover is the festival which commemorates and celebrates the night that the Israelites gained their freedom from Egypt, and left on their journey that would eventually take them across the Red Sea, and to the promised land.

It is celebrated by Jews starting on the 14^th day of Nisan (which would be the 14^th day after the new moon, and so it is not always on the same date as our Gregorian calendar) and it recounts how God sent His ten plagues upon Egypt to convince the Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. The word “Passover” is a reference to the 10^th plague, which was to inflict the Egyptians with the death of their firstborn, but would “passover” and not effect the house of the Hebrews who had put the blood of a lamb on their doorposts and lintels to their homes.

Simply put, Christian legalism is the erroneous doctrine that one’s salvation is gained (and maintained) through good works. While sounding Biblical, this deceptive philosophy actually is in stark opposition to the Word of God, for it usurps Christ’s redemptive work, negates God’s gift of grace and shows a lack of faith and trust in the Father’s promises.

Although most Christians know and accept John 3:16, (that our salvation was paid for by Jesus’ sacrifice), many still do not grasp that our justification, sanctification and redemption were completed simultaneously, as well (Titus 3:4-7).  It is not about what WE do or do not do, but what CHRIST has already done for us.  So, do we trust that Christ’s work alone on the cross was and is sufficient for us?  A legalistic mindset looks at what Christ has done as the ‘starting’ point, rather than His finishing work, believing once saved, now we must be perfect. Fearful, if we fail, we may lose our salvation. Or worse, that God will punish us with illnesses or calamities. Our walk then becomes more of a numbers game…do the good deeds outweigh the bad ones?

Was Jesus Born on Christmas (Dec 25th)?

In short, no, or at least, highly unlikely.
The Bible doesn't say specifically when he was born, and most Bible scholars recognize that the description of shepherds “tending their flocks by night” is not a practice that would take place in December, or other winter nights.

The early church before the 4^th century never even speculated that Jesus might have been born in December. Many of the early church fathers thought that the Spring was more likely.
