The definition of a “cult” is elusive and controversial. Webster’s dictionary defines a cult in several different ways: 1. “A system of religious worship or ritual” 2. “A quasi-religious group, often living in a colony, with a charismatic leader who indoctrinates members with unorthodox or extremist views, practices, or beliefs.” |

The Charismatic and Pentecostal churches hold the "gifts of the Holy Spirit" in very high esteem, and many of them have a very specific theology on the nine gifts that are listed in 1 Corinthians 12. Although most acknowledge that the number of "gifts" are not limited to these nine, I will just the same list them here. |

In contemporary American Evangelicalism, we have come to accept that we are obligated to pay a 10% tithe, and are free to keep the other 90% of our wealth, to spend as we would. This isn't quite accurate. There is a reason why the legal 10% tithe is never mentioned with regard to the New Covenant believer. |

There are some skeptics and New Agers that insist there are “Gospels” of Jesus that were either lost or suppressed in the early church period, and they identify those gospels in part as the Gnostic Gospels discovered in 1945, found outside of Nag Hammadi, Egypt. Are these truly “other” gospels? In short, no. |

There has been a great deal of interest lately in angels and other spirit beings. Many have speculated that the interest in angels and other "extraordinary" beings is a sign that America is deeply interested in the spiritual world. Some people feel that this is an indictor that there is an intense religious revival going on in this country. |

It's a common question. How could He let this go on? Sometimes we ask it in the wake of a personal tragedy. Sometimes, upon reflection of apparent great injustices like the Holocaust or the massive starvation in Africa. We all have asked ourselves the question "How can a Good, Loving and All-Powerful God allow such evil and suffering to exists?" |
